America's Biggest Threat: The Axis of Ignorance

If it is true that, "there is nothing wrong with America that can't be cured by what is right with America," then we liberals have our work cut out for us.

A great many pundits and scholars have debated over the years what the greatest threat to America is. Some contend that threat is terrorism. Others blame Godless Liberals for pushing Jesus out of the classrooms and culture. Still others blame illegal aliens for bringing drugs and disease and crime over our borders, and stealing our jobs and feeding freely from the public trough.

I disagree. I believe that the greatest threat to America can be catagorized by what I like to refer to as the "Axis of Ignorance"...

At the top of this pyramid of shame is the current REPUBLICAN GUARD, not just the President and his kabal of liars and purveyors of homegrown terrorism and fear, but also the shameful trolls that lead the current congress, and the judiciary that behaves like a cloaked secret society, permitting injustices and abridgement of our documents of democracy. Today's Republican leadership have proven that they will stop at nothing to wrest every shred of power and control to further their own agenda. They will twist logic, warp values, and generate fear to get their people to the polls. They will create roadblocks to prevent the opposition from voting, they will fix the voting machines to falsely record votes, and when all else fails they will get the Supreme Court to rule that counting the votes impinges on their candidates' civil liberties.

The right side of the base of the pyramid are the RELIGIOUS FUNDAMENTALISTS. These people, who predominantly are truly good and kind folk dedicated to living their lives in the path of Christ, have been duped by the top of the pyramid into supporting an agenda clearly contrary to thier own. What would Jesus do? Well, I don't know for sure, but somehow I doubt he would approve of bombing the crap out of people who never posed a threat to us. I don't think he would approve of the reckless disregard for the environment shown by the conservatives of today, nor the wasteful approach to our national resources and finances. I also don't believe he would approve of public health care money going to pay for Viagra and Cialis, but not for indigent care. The republicans have led religious fundamentalists to believe that a vote for them is a vote against homosexuality (how wrong could they be?) and abortion and for prayer in schools. The fundamentalist do us harm in one other way, and that is by setting the agenda in our schools and laboratories they are causing America to lose its scientific edge in the world, and that is not doing us any favors.

Now, there is no left side of the base of this pyramid, so physics majors please just entertain me here...

The other right side of the base of this pyramid is more nebulous. It is CULTURAL INTOLERANCE. This is best exemplified by the current raging debate over Border Security, which is a thinly veiled attempt to divide Americans over racial and cultural issues. Nothing has changed with regard to immigration in the past decade, but the administration wanted a nice, fiery issue with which to club liberals over for the midterm elections and they chose this one. With the assistance of media hacks like Lou Dobbs who shamelessly profit off of this big smelly red herring they have managed to give this non-starter oxygen for the past several months. How sad they must be that the fruit of their efforts, this heinous Border Security bill, brought them so little glory. Perhaps if one of their members (pardon the pun please) had been able to stop himself with the teenage pages it would have gotten a little more attention. But the real goal is to minimize the ability of Mexican people to become citizens and earn the right to vote, because the republicans cannot afford the change in demographics.

There you have it, the biggest threat to America today: The Axis of Ignorance. We liberals have a big job to do, but have faith, because we are smarter, we are capable, and we are right.

  2. The Demon-cats will let the tax cuts lapse, socking millions with billions of dollars in higher levies. They'll raise the minimum wage, hurting the working poor and those with the fewest skills and the least education. And they'll extend jobless benefits, a move that in the past has kept unemployment high (but which today, at 4.6%, is below the average of the last 40 years).
They'll also try to impose new regulations across the economy on everything from energy to broadband, punishing industries they don't like and subsidizing those they do.
Worst of all, they'll do nothing — absolutely nothing — to stop the growth in entitlement spending that will start to engulf the treasury beginning in 2009. Their solution as always: more taxes.
And this is just what they'll admit to. Who knows what else is in store.
How sad the Foley scandal has sucked all the air out of the debate over the nation's future. How tragic that many will now sit this election out for all the wrong reasons. When they wake up to find their taxes raised, the economy stumbling and their incomes falling behind, they'll regret their lassitude. But then it will be too late. You going to sit here and try and tell me the Demon-cats are the savors, I do not think so it is people like myself that still believe is this country and the values our fore-fathers gave us and it has nothing to do with some fucking political party wether it be Demon-cat or Republican.

  3. Let me clue you in on a little something. That "tax cut" you guys are so proud of was not a tax cut. It was a loan from my children to old farts like you.

My kids would like to go to college. They would like to have families of their own. Get your hands out of their pockets!

  4. Old Fart? let me clue you in deary, since you put it that way and you think it was a loan to me, then I do not want the Dems coming and taking it.

I guess your kids will have to do the same as past generation have done when it comes to college especially when the parents cannot afford it, take out a student loan as opposed to some free entitlement from the government which I think you want by what you said.

Last but least I'm getting nothing from this Tax cut, I am still a productive citizen of this country even being an old fart as you say, infact I just ask my employer for a $4.57 hourly increase in pay and yes I got it even though I may be an ole' fart as you put it.

Yes I'm thinkg about going on to Social Security after the first of the year, I want to get at least 1 pay check before the likes of Maria Cantwell and the Demon-cats give it to the illegals who have worked in this country.

  5. Before I go and watch the factor I have a great idea this coming election I say lets put a REFFIRENDUM on the ballot that will pay for all of these free entitlements the Demon-cats want and let the people vote on it, if you vote for the entitlements then let the government raise your taxes to pay for them not mine if I vote against it.

Rocky... I can't believe you plan to accept that tacky old Socoal Security check and Medicare since they both came from Democrats. Talk about a double standard! hehehe
Re: minimum wage.... what makes you think a little more money would hurt the working poor... Salary increases don't seem to hurt Congress any. and you seem to be doing ok with yours.

  9. I second granmarty's comments. Very well put, LTS.

Rocky didn't read the post on my page about the 650 economists who said a raise in the minimum wage to 7.25 will help the economy.

As for illegals, they contribute a trillion dollars to the American economy. They contribute to the tax base through sales taxes and other indirect means. Just make legalization easy, and you'll get the income tax revenues. Or is it that you just don't want a whole bunch of Mexicans around?

I do not have the time to read the bull-shit you post, as we all know every point has a counter point and I am sure if I took the time I could find a counter point to your article but why bother, you would only say it is incorrect.

As far as reading the shit you post I would rather not because I like the shit that LTS post, beside she is probably a hell of lot cuter than you are, right LTS?

  11. "Or is it that you just don't want a whole bunch of Mexicans around?"

LJM that is a stupid ass assumption that you are making and I will tell you why.

In 2001 shortly after I got laid off from Amazon.com I was working with a young Mexican kid from CA, he had not seen his family for about a month and wanted to fly them to WA for a week, but could not figure out how he could do it on $10.00 a hour, being the nice guy that I am I offered him my spare bed room for two weeks so he could save his Per-Deim and fly his family up for a weeks stay here in WA with him. In the future do not make these stupid ass comments unless you know the person

Rocky... My husband and I are Social Security and Medicare recipients but we have sense enough to know that they came from the admins of FDR and LBJ. Now about the minimum wage increase. How could it hurt the working poor to get more money? Raises don't hurt Congress any and you seem to be doing ok with your raise. The crux of the matter is that you got yours and to hell with everybody else! You are a heartless, arroogant, selfish bastard and you make me sick and ashamed of my home state!!!!!

  13. Olerocky, your lack of a counterpoint demonstrates the weakness of your argument.

As to your benevolence towards Mexicans...then you shouldn't have a problem with raising the legal quota to realistic levels?

  14. LJM I never said I had a problem with anyone Immigrating to this country and I take the same position as the majority of the people when it comes to this issue, if you want to come here then do it legally, it is not my responsibility to feed and clothed and provide services to them through entitlements because of their own governments inability to provide these services.

you may want to do so through your own tax dollars but not on my dime.
